Laser Tattoo Removal

Whether it's a tattoo you've outgrown, a design that didn't turn out quite how you imagined, or ink you'd like to lighten for a cover-up, laser tattoo removal gives you options.

At Brow Down Beauty, we use advanced Q-switched Nd:YAG laser technology to target unwanted tattoo pigment without surgically removing the skin. The laser delivers short pulses of energy that break tattoo ink into smaller particles, allowing your body's natural processes to gradually clear the pigment over time.

HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?

Laser tattoo removal works by delivering concentrated pulses of light into the skin, where the energy is absorbed by tattoo pigment. This causes the ink to fragment into smaller particles that your immune system gradually removes.

Because tattoo ink sits within the dermis, removal takes time. Multiple sessions are typically necessary, with several weeks between appointments to allow your skin to recover and your body to continue clearing pigment.

Black and darker inks generally respond best, while certain colors can be more challenging to remove.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Every tattoo is different, and removal isn't a one-size-fits-all process. The number of sessions needed depends on several factors, including:

  • Ink color: Black ink typically responds most effectively.

  • Tattoo age: Older tattoos may fade more easily than newer ones.

  • Ink density: Heavily saturated tattoos generally require more treatments.

  • Tattoo location: Circulation and lymphatic activity can influence how quickly pigment clears.

  • Skin type: Your natural skin tone helps determine the safest treatment approach.

  • Previous cover-ups: Multiple layers of ink can make removal more challenging.

Some tattoos fade significantly in just a few sessions, while others require a longer treatment plan. Complete removal isn't guaranteed, but meaningful fading is often achievable.

COMPLETE REMOVAL OR JUST LIGHTENING?

You don't necessarily have to erase the whole thing.

Laser tattoo removal isn't just for tattoos you want completely gone.

If you're planning a cover-up, lightening existing ink can give your tattoo artist more flexibility with the new design. Instead of working around dark, saturated pigment, they can start with a lighter canvas.

Whether your goal is complete removal, partial fading, or preparing for something new, we'll discuss a realistic treatment plan based on your tattoo.

DOES IT HURT?

We're not going to pretend you won't feel anything.

Most clients describe laser tattoo removal as a quick snapping sensation against the skin, similar to a rubber band. Treatments are generally fast, especially for smaller tattoos.

Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, and whitening of the treated pigment (called frosting) are common immediately following treatment.

Proper aftercare is essential to support healing and minimize complications.
